Encounter Designer

G-SPACE STUDIO LTD is a European game development studio. Our company has been developing games and applications since 2011. We work with partners from Europe, Canada, and the USA.

We are seeking a talented Senior Encounter Designer to join our team working on a Third-person Action Adventure MMORPG built with Unreal Engine 5. The candidate will focus on designing, balancing and setting up both Battle and Peaceful encounters in a game.

На какие задачи (обязанности)?

• Design and implement engaging encounters: enemies, NPCs, traps, puzzles, interactions.

• Balance encounters considering progression, rules, and player experience.

• Script and prototype encounters in UE5 Blueprints.

• Test and iterate through playthroughs, refining pacing and balance.

• Collaborate with Game/Level Design, Art, and Engineering teams.

• Document designs, balance calculations, and encounter setups.

• Incorporate feedback and stay updated on trends in combat and MMO encounter design.

Какого профессионала ищем?

• 3+ years of experience as a Technical Game Designer or related role (Level/Combat Designer).

• Proven experience with enemy/NPC placement, encounter balancing, traps, puzzles, and interactions.

• Experience on PC or Console projects; MMORPG experience is a plus.

• Strong understanding of game design principles, player psychology, pacing, and flow.

• Hands-on experience with Unreal Engine 5 (level design tools, Blueprints, gameplay scripting).

• Familiarity with version control (Git, Perforce) and project tools (Jira, Trello).

• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

• Problem-solving mindset, adaptability, and passion for immersive gameplay.

• Portfolio with encounter design work, prototypes, or shipped features.

• Proficiency in English.
