Senior/Lead 2d Artist

Our client is a young and ambitious mobile game studio founded in April 2025 by a team of senior professionals with strong expertise in product, marketing, monetization, and game development.
The company’s goal is to build commercially successful hybrid-casual puzzle and word games that combine high-quality gameplay with smart business decisions.
You will join a compact and professional team where every member directly impacts the product. The studio is fully funded for the long term, with stable budgets, no investor pressure, and a mature approach to management and development.
Location: Global (priority for candidates residing outside Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine)

На які завдання (обов'язки)?

1. Creation of Game Assets

• Designing gameplay visuals: items, characters, puzzles, blocks, boosters, etc.

• Drawing icons, buttons, and UI elements in line with the project’s style.

2. Level and Environment Work

• Creating or assembling level environments (backgrounds, props, effects, compositions).

• Preparing stylistic variations for locations or level themes.

• Visualizing progression — how the game looks as it develops (UI, content, effects).

3. Preparing Graphics for Integration

• Exporting assets in the required formats and resolutions.

• Working with atlases, slicing, layers, PSD/PNG files.

• Assembling scenes or screens in the engine (if included in the task).

4. Team Collaboration

• Potential leading an art team, ensuring alignment on style, quality, and deadlines

• Working closely with game designers and producers.

• Handing over assets to developers with usage guidelines.

• Contributing to discussions on new mechanics and visual solutions.

5. Visual Quality Support

• Maintaining a consistent visual style across the project.

• Continuously improving the game’s visual appeal — detail, readability, impact.

6. LiveOps / Content Updates Support

• Designing seasonal events, skins, and special level decorations.

• Quickly adapting existing elements for new tasks.

• Assisting in creating marketing creatives (if required).

7. Animation and Visual Effects

• Creating simple animations for gameplay objects (movement, reactions, feedback).

• Designing animated UI elements (clicks, pop-ups, transitions).

• Developing visual effects (explosions, booster collection, win/lose states).

• Setting up or assembling effects in Unity (if the project runs on Unity and tasks include this).

Якого професіонала шукаємо?

General Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in game development.

• Participation in at least one completed mobile project.

• Understanding of art specifics for F2P and casual/hyper-casual projects.

• Ability to adapt style to the project: from minimalist UI puzzles to pseudo-3D.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong expertise in commercial 2D graphics: icons, buttons, UI, and gameplay elements.

• Ability to create cartoonish and stylized assets.

• Experience designing articulated characters, objects, and environments.

• Solid knowledge of composition, silhouettes, color, and readability.

Technical Skills

• Preparing production-ready graphics (well-structured PSDs, proper tiles and spacing).

• Understanding of mobile optimization: resolutions, atlases, batching.

• Basic knowledge of game engines (Unity).

• Animation and VFX skills (especially in Unity).

Tools & Technologies

• Unity

• Figma

• Spine / After Effects

• MidJourney or other neural networks

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience contributing to the development of Match-3, Sort, Word, or Merge games.

• Ability to build and structure an art production pipeline.

• Portfolio showcasing game screens or level art.
