We at Values Value are supporting our client — a fast-growing game startup — in the search for a CTO who can establish an engineering organization from the ground up and turn technology into one of the company’s key competitive advantages. The role involves working with mobile games (Unity), fast development cycles, high quality and stability requirements, and a toolset built around data-driven and AI-enhanced workflows.

For which tasks (responsibilities)?

Technology Strategy & Architecture

• Build a 2–3 year technological roadmap.

• Define architectural approaches for Unity-based games and supporting services.

• Create and maintain engineering standards, architectural guidelines, and best practices.

• Accelerate development through process improvements, tooling, and AI integration.

Engineering Team Leadership

• Build an engineering organization including Unity developers, backend, DevOps, QA, and Tech Leads.

• Lead hiring, grading, onboarding, performance management, and training.

• Develop a strong layer of Tech Leads and autonomous teams.

• Foster a culture of responsibility, transparency, and high engineering quality.

Delivery & Development Processes

• Set up planning, release cycles, CI/CD pipelines, and code quality processes.

• Increase team velocity without sacrificing stability.

• Manage and reduce technical debt.

• Implement monitoring, logging, and a reliable build infrastructure.

• Ensure predictable release schedules.

Data & AI in Game Development

• Introduce a data-driven development and LiveOps approach: analytics, dashboards, core product metrics.

• Build internal tools for player behavior analysis.

• Use AI for prototyping features, automating tests, speeding up content pipelines, and optimizing internal workflows.

Technical Stability & Infrastructure

• Manage build systems, hosting, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps processes.

• Optimize build times and infrastructure costs.

• Ensure security, access control, and risk mitigation.

• Maintain stable post-release operation of all products.

Collaboration with Co-Founders & Product

• Participate in key product decisions.

• Co-own game roadmaps, feature prioritization, and technical planning.

• Ensure clear communication around timelines, risks, and technical implications.

• Deep experience with Unity, performance optimization, and mobile pipelines.

• Strong understanding of backend, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and CI/CD.

• Experience building an engineering organization from 0 → 1 → N.
